AN ALBUM GIVEAWAY TO MAKE YOU 'HAPPY'
There are some things in life that just can’t be disputed and one of those things is the fact that Pharrell Williams is cool. He’s the male Beyonce, a figure universally accepted for oozing serious amounts of swagger.
He’s been pretty quiet the last few years old Pharrell, dabbling in music projects behind the scenes, producing some of the biggest tracks from the back seat. Robin Thicke’s 'Blurred Lines' and Daft Punk’s 'Get Lucky' were two of those mammoth anthems. That was until earlier this year when he dropped a new track called ‘Happy’, the lead single from the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack, which has soared up the charts and already become the biggest tune of Pharrell’s twenty year career.
Yes, Pharrell has been producing music since 1992. How old do you feel now?
The release of ‘Happy’ and rotation of it on almost every single radio station all day long across the world for the last two months (not to mention it’s record-breaking 24 hour music video) has obviously given Pharrell the nudge he needed to get back into the spotlight, because here he is with G I R L, his first album since 2006’s In My Mind.
Pharrell has clearly made his mates repay him the favor for producing some of their biggest hits, because Miley Cyrus, Justin Timberlake, Timbaland, Daft Punk, Alicia Keys and Kelly Osbourne turn up on G I R L over the ten new tracks. Song titles ‘Marilyn Monroe’, ‘Lost Queen’ and ‘It Girl’ all point to the theme of the album, a celebration of women and the gener imbalance in modern society.
And if you were wondering, yes ‘Happy’ is on there too.
To celebrate the release of G I R L and Pharrell’s ridiculous level of coolness, we’re giving five copies of the CD to lucky Remix readers. Enter your name and details in the fields below to be in to win… you might ‘Get Lucky’.
